Yay for Yard Sales

The Corb's and I have been needing a desk for our office since we moved in and we shopped around and looked online and everything was super expensive and cheap at the same time. No bueno. So a Saturday before I had to be to work, I checked out a few yard sales on our street. I found this lovely. She was $10. I sent a picture to corbin and he had zero faith in her, but I did, so I bought it and stuffed it in my Jetta.

I am not crafty... at all. But I wish I was, so sometimes I try to be. I went to Wal-Mart and bought burgundy spray paint, Mod Podge, and some fabric. Yes, spray paint did get on my driveway. Yes, Corbin was mad at me.

The fabric was on sale so I only paid $1 for it. Mod Podge was $5. And I spent about $6 on spray paint. So my new and improved desk only cost me $22. Not too bad if ya ask me. And it gave me a fun project to do on my day off. I think we're going to search a few more yard sales and find a bigger desk for Corb to use for work/school and I will use this one for my crafts, sewing machine, work, etc. I like the way it turned out!

PS: Do not look at the blue carpet.. so ugly.

Jammin

So Corbin's Grandma wanted to teach us how to make Strawberry Jam since strawberries are in season right now (I guess?) and you can buy a lot of them for cheap this time of year. So I stopped by Costco and picked us up a HUGE box of strawberries, Corbin called his grandma, and we had a date set to stock up our food storage.

Yes, I'm aware we don't look good in this picture..

We went over Monday, Family Night! This is what we did for our FHE. We had a great lesson from the Ensign and got a lot of really good advice from Grandma. She was hilarious that night, I saw a totally new side of her. She told us, "I don't like swearing and I try not to, but sometimes someone does something that bugs you or something bad happens and its very therapeutic to close your eyes and let a certain word cross your mind. My certain word happens to start with an "S"." haha I thought that was so funny coming from his grandma! Oh and on our way over there we realized we forgot the strawberries in our fridge so we turned around and called her to let her know what happened and that we'd be a little late and she goes, "That's alright, couples in love can often be forgetful." haha

Smashing strawberries came natural for Corb, he was great at it! We didn't quite have enough strawberries to make 2 full batches so our second batch is a mixed berry batch from berries Grandma had in her freezer. That batch is actually our favorite.

Grandma gave us a bunch of jars from her storage room. She didn't want us to have to buy any. She said she knows what it's like to be poor when you're first married :)

Yummyy. I eat toast a lot more often these days :)

So thank you Grandma Englund for the great time and the delicious Jam! We love it and You!

Extra Extra Read All About It!

So I'm usually not big on having my fingernails painted. I have to have my toenails painted. But having my fingernails painted usually really annoys me and I end up picking it off. BUT, I just found this REALLY cute idea online and I had to try it!

Newspaper Nails!!

How cute are these!? They're totally different, but that's why I like them. And guess what?... They are WAY easy to do and I will tell you how!

1. Find a lighter color of fingernail polish that you like (A thicker polish that goes on solid looks the cutest). I did a light pink today and used 2 coats.

2. Make sure they are completely dry!

3. Get some alcohol. (The site said to use vodka, but I'm not into that sort of thing so I used rubbing alcohol haha.. seemed to work fine)

4. Dip a fingernail into the alcohol and stick a piece of newspaper over the wet nail.

5. Push it on there good and make sure it got on the whole nail and then peel it off slowly.

6. You will be really impressed with yourself! Its so easy!

7. Finish with a clear top coat! Waa-Laa!!

Lake Arrowhead is for Lovers

Corbin and I went to Lake Arrowhead/Big Bear in Southern California for our honeymoon. Though we never went to any lake. We had a great time kicking back and taking a break from work! Some family friends of Corbin's let us stay in their cabin up there.

This was our favorite room! It had a sectional couch (Corbin's favorite kind of couch, next comes hide-away couches.. weirdo) and a nice big TV with surround sound. This is where Corbin gained respect for Justin Bieber after watching Never Say Never ;)

We went and got pedicures one of the days.. Corbin's first! It was lovely.

The drive to get to our pedicures, however, was not lovely. The fog was so thick you couldn't see 10 feet in front of you and it was making me way car sick. Not to mention all of the roads up there are super curvey.. that didn't help with the car sick situation.

We rode in that crazy little truck thing up steep switch back roads to get to our zipline destination. The ziplines made us a little bit nervous at first but ended up being a lot of fun! The view was pretty up there and the ziplines went pretty fast! A lady in our group started crying because she was scared and decided to just walk down to the bottom.. bummer! I'll upload videos of it when I get my camera back!

So overall the honeymoon was a success and we had a really good time! Thank you everyone who helped us plan the trip out! Love you all.
